Overview
The Animation Production Manager course will cover all the aspects of managing an animation film or TV project that are crucial for it to be completed within its allocated timeframe and budget, and at the promised level of quality. What you will learn: The course structure corresponds to the various steps of an animation production, covering the processes of initiating, planning, executing and closing the film. The participants will be expertly guided through the process and train the ability to foresee challenges and analyse the possibilities within the given budget, when it comes to style, artists etc. The course will be a mix of theory and practical exercises designed to prepare the participants for managing a production and a team, either in-house or placed at various geographical locations. In order to accommodate the needs of as many participants as possible, the course will be part hybrid, part online. During the course, the instructors, all active professionals from the animation industry, will cover a series of topics needed when managing an animation film production such as cashflow/budgeting, planning and deadlines, approval procedures, the roles and responsibilities of various team members, who are depending on each other, and how the production manager can facilitate a good work flow in terms of structure and communication. All of this is important for the project to succeed both creatively and economically. Many of the topics described above are covered by the main teacher, senior line producer Therese Sachse, and are relevant for both small and large productions, as well as 2D and 3D productions. Therese has experience with many different types of productions and will also talk about the difference between small and large productions, and how the same topics apply in upscaled and downscaled versions to different types of projects. Additionally, there will be a focus on pipelines, taught through talks by specialists in 2D pipeline and 3D pipeline.
