Overview
The course introduces the basic principles of screen expression, scene analysis, and methods of working with actors. Theory is combined with scene screenings, practical tasks, and discussion. Students work with their own written scenes, learning to articulate creative ideas, communicate them to actors, develop subtext, and explore visual and sound-related meanings.

Students will be able to understand the basic principles of screen expression and the key components of directing; analyse scenes from a director’s perspective, including character objectives, subtext and mise-en-scène; formulate and communicate creative ideas and directing tasks when working with actors; critically analyse and evaluate their own creative work and that of others.
